Instructional DVD by leading authorities Morio Higaonna, Shihan Kenneth Funakoshi, Kyoshi-Shihan Shoji Nishimura Morio Higaonna Born on December 25, 1938, this prominent Okinawan karate practitioner is the founder and former Chief Instructor of the International Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate-do Federation (IOGKF). He is a holder of the highest rank in Goju-ryu karate, 10th dan. Higaonna has written several books on Goju-ryu karate, including Traditional Karate-do: Okinawa Goju Ryu (1985) and The history of Karate: Okinawan Goju Ryu (2001). Martial arts scholar Donn Draeger (1922-1982) reportedly once described him as 'the most dangerous man in Japan in a real fight.' Shihan Kenneth Funakoshi He is the founder and chief instructor of the Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association and is fourth cousin to Master Gichin Funakoshi - the founder of Modern Shotokan. He started judo training in 1948 under Arakaki Sensei in Honolulu, Hawaii, and started Kempo training under Adriano Emperado from 1956 to 1959. In 1960, Funakoshi started Shotokan training under Hirokazu Kanazawa Sensei. For the next three years, Funakoshi trained under Masataka Mori, another senior instructor from the JKA. 1966 to 1969, he trained under the third and last instructor sent by the J.K.A., the legendary Tetsuhiko Asai. Kyoshi-Shihan Shoji Nishimura He is the chief karate instructor of USA Wado-ryu Karate-do Renmei in California. With over 40 years experience in Karate, he holds a 7th degree black belt. In 1977, he was the karate club captain of Rissho University in Tokyo, Japan where he won numerous fighting and spirit awards. 65 minutes.
