The Naginata is a traditional weapon used by feudal Japanese Samurai warriors similar to a spear with a curved blade. Its use is similar to that of a katana but it is shorter then a yari or spear; for this reason you can execute more attacks and defences; while it can also be used much faster and efficiently. In this DVD Master Akeshi will show you in detail 20 Kumidqashi of Naginata and 5 Kumidashi of Kihon; these later ones will create a bridge between the Naginata and the katana and will emphasize the similarities between the two. These kumidashi are performed with a bokken that due to the weight will help awaken the doirmant muscles that help in a decisive way the behaviour and eveolution of both weapons. The naginata places all martial arts in a new scenarioof distances; weights; and mobility.
